Online users excited to posts their photos, including me when I was just starting to learn the intricacies of the Internet, do not optimize their pictures or images when sending these via email or uploading in photo galleries. This results in a slow opening or in viewing them as email attachments or on galleries.
You often need to compromise between image display quality and the file size if you want them to load faster. You therefore need to optimize the pictures.
There are many ways to optimize your web graphics.
First, if using a digital camera, reduce the size of your photographs because they are always too big.
Second: If you have Photoshop, open the picture and use the “File>Save As” or, in Photoshop CS4 the “File>Save for Web and Devices” command to save an image as a GIF, JPEG, or PNG file. Depending on the file format, you can specify image quality, background transparency or matting, color display, and downloading method.
You can also use the Photoshop Image Processor to save copies of a folder of images in JPEG format. You can also use the Image Processor (“File>Scripts>Image Processor> in Photoshop CS4) to resize and convert the images’ color profile to web standard sRGB.
Check your favorite image processor software as most have a way of optimizing or converting your images to Web-ready or optimized graphics for the Web.
